Affordable Housing Development & Managment:

NBDC has been actively engaged in developing and managing affordable housing in North Brooklyn for over 20 years, earning a successful track-record in providing affordable units for both purchase and rent. NBDC has successfully completed 100 percent of the projects it has initiated, and has sponsored five affordable housing projects to date, for a total of 194 affordable units: 1) McNorm Houses, nine three-family affordable homes; 2) Greenpoint Gardens, 30 units of NYS Affordable Housing Program-financed affordable condominiums; 3) 1086 Manhattan Avenue, eight limited-equity co-ops financed by the NYS Housing Trust Fund; 4) Dupont Street Senior Housing, 97 units of HUD 202-financed low-income housing for seniors; and 5) Huron Street Senior Housing, 32 studio apartments for seniors, funded by the NYS Housing Trust Fund.

Currently, NBDC is in the process of developing 14 condominium units for purchase through the New Foundations Homeownership Program of New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation and the Housing Partnership Development Corporation. The Herbert Streets Condos, as the project is named, will be located at 37 Herbert Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and will be available for occupancy in September 2009. NBDC will continue to manage the building after the units are sold and occupied.

NBDC is committed to continuing and expanding our work in affordable housing development, fully aware that local affordable housing needs have only intensified in recent years. Please continue to check our website for updates on new affordable housing projects and initiatives.
